Earwig Control

Earwig treatments are pest-specific and targeted. Earwigs prefer cool, damp areas and commonly hide in mulch, garden beds, under pavers, and around outdoor edges during the day. They can also wander indoors at night, especially during warmer months or after rain. Treatment focuses on common harbourage areas and entry points to help reduce activity and prevent ongoing earwig problems.

Common Earwig Activity Areas

  • Garden beds, mulch, and leaf litter

  • Under pavers, stones, and outdoor mats

  • Around external walls, weep holes, and door thresholds

  • Garages, sheds, and storage areas

  • Bathrooms, laundries, and other damp indoor areas

  • Around windows, sliding doors, and entry points

Common Earwigs

  • Common earwig

  • Ringlegged earwig

Important Safety Note

In most earwig treatments involving targeted applications and external perimeter treatments, people and pets may remain on the property. If an internal spray treatment is required, all occupants and pets must leave the property and remain out until treated surfaces are fully dry, usually 2–4 hours. Food items, utensils, and exposed surfaces should be covered or removed prior to treatment.

Preparation Required (Before Treatment)

To ensure a safe and effective service, please complete the following before our technician arrives:

  • Reduce moisture around the home where possible (fix leaks, avoid overwatering garden beds near walls)

  • Clear excess mulch, leaf litter, and debris from garden beds close to the house

  • Clear access to skirting edges, doorways, and damp indoor areas where activity has been seen

  • Keep pets secured away from treatment areas if required

Preparation Required (After Treatment)

To ensure the treatment works effectively and keeps everyone safe:

  • Keep people and pets away from treated areas until fully dry (usually 2–4 hours if spraying is carried out)

  • Avoid washing or hosing treated outdoor areas for at least 48 hours unless advised

  • Avoid wiping treated skirting edges and entry points for at least 48 hours

  • Some earwig activity may continue briefly before reducing
