Silverfish Control

Silverfish treatments are pest-specific and targeted. Silverfish hide in dark, humid areas and feed on starches found in paper, glue, fabrics, and food crumbs. Because they often live in cracks and crevices and can move through wall voids and along skirting edges, treatment focuses on harbourage areas and moisture-prone zones to help reduce activity and prevent ongoing problems.

Common Silverfish Activity Areas

  • Bathrooms and laundries (around sinks, drains, and cupboards)

  • Kitchens and pantries (cupboards, behind appliances, under sinks)

  • Wardrobes, linen cupboards, and storage areas

  • Bookcases, paper storage, and cardboard boxes

  • Skirting boards, cracks and crevices, and wall edges

  • Roof spaces and sub-floor areas (especially if damp)

Common Silverfish

  • Grey silverfish

  • Common silverfish

  • Four-lined silverfish

Important Safety Note

In most silverfish treatments involving baiting and targeted crack-and-crevice applications, people and pets may remain on the property. If an internal spray treatment is required, all occupants and pets must leave the property and remain out until treated surfaces are fully dry, usually 2–4 hours. Food items, utensils, and exposed surfaces should be covered or removed prior to treatment.

Preparation Required (Before Treatment)

To ensure a safe and effective service, please complete the following before our technician arrives:

  • Reduce clutter in bathrooms, laundries, kitchens, linen cupboards, and storage areas

  • Clear access under sinks, around drains, and along skirting where possible

  • Empty the base of cupboards or wardrobes where activity has been seen (if practical)

  • Store paper, books, and cardboard items in sealed containers where possible

  • Fix or note any leaks or moisture issues (silverfish thrive in damp environments)

  • Keep pets away from treatment areas if required

Preparation Required (After Treatment)

To ensure the treatment works effectively and keeps everyone safe:

  • Keep people and pets away from treated areas until fully dry (usually 2–4 hours if spraying is carried out)

  • Do not wipe treated skirting edges, cracks, or cupboard corners for at least 48 hours

  • Avoid mopping treated floors for 48 hours unless advised

  • Improve ventilation and reduce moisture where possible for best long-term results

  • Some silverfish activity may continue briefly before reducing as treatments take effect.

  • Contact us if silverfish activity persists beyond the recommended timeframe
